Unison: Bridging Design and Community Through Thoughtful Simplicity

Robert and Alicia Segal began their design journey in 1999 after traveling to Finland to work for Marimekko. Immersed in the iconic brand and vibrant design culture, they were inspired by the joyful simplicity of Scandinavian design. They founded Unison in Chicago in 2006.

Unison's debut collection consisted of simple, graphic bedding and throw pillows followed by table linens. From the start, their focus was on clean, modern design and exceptional quality. As Unison grew, they collaborated with like-minded designers to enrich their collections—from the everyday elegance of Massimo Vignelli’s Heller dinnerware to the precise craftsmanship of Japanese brands like KINTO, Hasami Porcelain and Fog Linen.

Today, Unison’s offerings span collaborations with over 20 designers and artists, creating thoughtfully designed products for every room in the home. What began as a partnership has grown into a community of people who share a commitment and affinity for enduring design.

Unison blends design, objects, spaces, people, and purpose, believing that good design should integrate seamlessly into any home, whether modern or traditional. That versatile products can flex between spaces and serve multiple functions-making them worthy of the place they occupy in a home. They believe, true simplicity isn’t just about removing excess; it’s about believing that thoughtful, lasting design fosters a sense of genuine community. At Unison, they strive to “Live Well Together.”

Unison also exclusively carry KINTO's ATELIER TETE collection here in the US. The white plates and bowls in this collection tell the story of the hands that crafted them, as the term "te" means hand in Japanese. Each piece is created through an original molding process that highlights its handmade nature. The translucent glaze flows unevenly over the porcelain, enhancing the uniqueness and accentuating the intricate handmade details. With the porcelain bottom left unglazed, this distinct feature contrasts beautifully with the otherwise glossy finish, adding a touch of organic elegance to your table.
