Loopback and the Hanging Knitting Machine
One of the knits in which the appeal of hanging knitting is most evident is loopback (French terry). By attaching a dedicated attachment to the machine, it can be knitted on the same machine as plain jersey. Drawing in the yarn to form the loops is complex and delicate, so artisans constantly check the condition of the machine and make fine adjustments, taking time to knit each piece of fabric.
Comfort Brought by Air
Futo's sweat fabric is knitted slowly on a hanging knitting machine, at a rate of about 1 m per hour. The looped pile on the reverse side is likewise knitted slowly, giving the fabric a plump, airy texture. That layer of air creates a soft feel and an enveloping warmth.
Basic Colors
Available in three colors: white, black, and melange gray. For the melange gray, yarn with a slight tint is used for the looped reverse side, giving a warm color that is easy to work into casual styles.
Size Range
Available in three sizes: 1, 2, and 3. Size 1 corresponds to S, size 2 to M, and size 3 to L. A unisex design with a relaxed, roomy fit. Easy to layer over T-shirts and similar pieces, it works on its own or layered throughout the seasons. (Model is 168cm tall and wears size 2)
Attention to Detail
The ribbing uses a soft fine-gauge rib knit to match the texture of the body fabric. It does not squeeze too tightly and fits the body comfortably. The triangular gusset distributes the force applied to the neckline, preventing stretching and loss of shape. Details born from function have been incorporated as accents in a simple design.
