Plants can add a refreshing, lively feeling to your workspace or home. We visited the home of Hiroshi Aihara, who is the designer of KINTO's Tokyo showroom and office, to ask him about how he styles his home with greenery.
- How do you select interior items and plants for your home?
"The interior of my house is a mix of different styles, including modern and vintage. I want to be able to relax and be surrounded by the things I love. I enjoy spending time on my favorite sofa with a drink, listening to music and reading.
Plants have definitely become part of the scenery, perhaps because they have such a calming presence. I buy flowers every one to two weeks at a local florist, and choose whatever intrigues me in the moment. I also have a lot of potted plants; I am now growing a Chinese banyan, an avocado tree, a jade plant, a Japanese ash, a rubber tree, and a Brazilian grape tree. I water all of the plants about once a week, and they've been living long and growing by the day."

- You have many vases. How do you choose them?
"Many of my vases are made of glass because I like the material and the sleek appearance of it. I own AQUA CULTURE VASE in three colors and have fun mixing and matching them. Sometimes I display different colors and sizes together, put flowers in them, or experiment with hydroponics."

" I also choose vases according to the furnitures I have. I chose LUNA in brown to complement my antique chest of drawers. I love the subdued tones of the flowers I have now, but I think that some casually placed branches or dried flowers would be nice too."
